Gereja Blendug


As the nation's longest "occupy" the country, the Netherlands also left his mark on the city of Semarang. Just look at the old city area in Central Java province's capital city. You will find a lot of old buildings colonial style. Of the buildings that lined the street, Blendug Church is one of the attractive old building.

Built around 1753 by the Dutch community that once inhabited this region, Blendug Church is the oldest church in Central Java which is still maintained until now. Blendug itself comes from the Javanese language means dome, referring to the existing roof on the church.

Shapes arched roof and red, was in contrast with the walls painted white. Four sturdy pillars and distinctive twin towers at the front of the church is also a characteristic which is now officially named this GPIB Immanuel. Blendug church has become an icon of the city of Semarang and has always been a tourist stopover location history and photography lovers.
